Evermore

The next phase of our mission

For years, I’ve carried a vision in my heart for what the future of Oinking Acres could become, and today, I am overjoyed to finally get to share that vision with all of you!

Evermore: The Next Chapter of Oinking Acres.

Oinking Acres has officially secured 78 acres in Lizton, just 8 miles from our main sanctuary, and we’ve name it…..Evermore. Evermore is more than just land, it is the next phase of our mission.

When I started Oinking Acres, my first love and primary focus was potbellied pigs. I had spent my youth volunteering with another rescue organization that provided rescue opportunities for potbellies, and it became quickly evident that their need for refuge was so much greater than I could have ever imagined. From this need, grew my determination to help them, and ultimately, my life’s purpose.

At 16 years-old, I, along with the help and support of my mom, filed my 501(c)(3) and started this work with a few old stalls in my family’s barn. This is how and where my mission began, and through unwavering determination, sacrifice and years of hard work, is how the farm has evolved into the beautiful sanctuary we welcome our visitors to today.

Over the years, potbellied pigs have often come to us as a result of human irresponsibility, impulsive decisions, and a lack of understanding about the lifelong commitment they require. These incredibly intelligent and resilient animals deserve advocacy, compassion, and an opportunity to live safely and comfortably when others have failed them. My goal was to provide them with appropriate vetting and the care they needed until they could be placed into forever homes. Then one day, each in their own individually desperate and dismal situation, Theo and Rogue came into my life...

These marked the exact moments when our mission expanded. The world shifted. They opened my eyes to an entirely different plight, an entirely different and heartbreaking reality— a reality where animals are not failed by a solitary individual’s poorly considered decision, but by an entire and intentionally constructed system, built around mass production, suffering, and slaughter.

Large breed pigs are born into an industry where misery and suffering are the standards of their life, from the moment they enter this world until the day they are killed, at just 5-6 months old. Taking in Theo and Rogue radically changed the trajectory of Oinking Acres and the course of my life.

Rogue’s leap from a transport truck introduced me to the heartbreaking world of truck jumpers—tiny babies who propel themselves from moving semis in an effort to save their own lives—and to the countless others fighting for their lives every single day. Since then, we’ve welcomed many brave piglets who made that same desperate leap for life. Each one, strengthening my dedication and resolve.

Potbellied pigs and the plight they face will always be fundamentally important to our mission, but another reality we’re forced to face is this: as extremely few places that exist to serve potbelly pigs, there are only handfuls, nationally, that serve big pigs. Animal welfare is not structured to provide protections for those we serve, and the world outside of farm animal sanctuary is a very, very scary place for pigs.

I have always carried one driving purpose: to build Oinking Acres into a place where I never have to say ‘no’ to the next animal fighting for a second chance. Since I was fourteen years old, I have poured every ounce of myself into this work. I have never taken my foot off the gas because the need continues to grow. Every day, these animals fall into the gap between exploitation and safety, and my mission is to stand in that gap.

A couple of months ago, we found a property that made this dream feel tangible for the first time. Thanks to a handful of incredibly generous donors who believe deeply in this mission and share a heart for these animals, we were able to secure this property. We did still have to take on a short-term loan to make this possible, and we’re working diligently to pay that off as we move forward.

Something we do want to be very clear about:

Oinking Acres is NOT moving. We are NOT leaving Brownsburg. We are NOT relocating and nothing is changing at the farm! Our main sanctuary in Brownsburg will continue operating exactly as it always has, including our regular events and open hours, and most all of the residents you know and love will remain right where they are, receiving the same dedicated care and attention.

Evermore is simply an expansion. A second chapter.

A property dedicated specifically for our big pigs and other large farm animals who need more space than our current sanctuary can provide. The need for safe refuge for large animals only continues to grow, and this land will allow us to expand our rescue efforts for large slaughter-bound animals like big pigs, cows, and sheep, the ones who too often have nowhere safe to go.

Evermore could not be more perfect for these otherwise forgotten and forsaken beings. The property is beautifully wooded, and with a gorgeous creek running through it. It is peaceful, wild, and exactly the kind of place these animals deserve. A true paradise for pigs.

Theo, Rogue, Rebel, Ripley, Riot, and Reign will be the first residents to call Evermore home—-there could not be a more fitting beginning than for these amongst us that fought bravely for their right to live, to be Evermore’s founding family.

I also want to be transparent in that this is a massive undertaking. This project will happen in phases as funds and manpower allow. Securing the land was only the first step and there is still extensive work ahead to prepare the property, build infrastructure, and create the safe, functional refuge these animals deserve. This won’t happen overnight. It will take time, dedication, and a community of supporters and local businesses willing to believe in this vision as deeply as I do.

Evermore is the physical manifestation of years of sacrifice, relentless work, mountain moving faith, and an unwavering belief that these animals deserve more.

This is for the ones who made the leap.

Welcome to Evermore—a home dedicated to THE ONES THAT GOT AWAY.

We’ve now been on the property since the beginning of May and the work has officially begun…..In that short time, we’ve already managed to replace portions of old fencing, clear and clean out barns, establish our sheep area, and successfully move them to Evermore. We’ve also welcomed three new equine residents — Cordelia, Sybil, and Flossie — survivors of a horrific neglect case who are beginning their next chapter here.

Watching this property slowly come to life has been incredibly rewarding, but securing Evermore was only the first step. In many ways, we are working with a blank canvas—-we are essentially starting from scratch and it is a massive undertaking.

Our next major focus is preparing a large wooded section of the property for our big pigs. The vision is there. The land is there. Now we need to build the infrastructure to make it happen. This area is absolutely gorgeous and truly a pig’s paradise. Most people may not know that pigs are, by nature, forest dwellers and absolutely thrive in that type of environment. But before Theo, Rogue, Rebel, Ripley, Riot, and Reign can make their move to their wooded paradise, we have much work to do.

We need a road, fencing, a barn/structure/shelter of some kind, and for long-term sustainability and efficiency, we need to dig a well. Infrastructure may not be glamorous, but it is the foundation that makes rescue possible. Secure fencing creates safety and is a must. Barns provide shelter, protection, and functional animal care spaces. A well creates independence, reliability, and long-term sustainability for a property of this size.

Getting these systems in place early in our endeavor is absolutely crucial to the future of Evermore and our ability to responsibly expand this mission. This project will happen in phases, as we have the time and as funding allows. That is simply the reality of building a sanctuary from the ground up. I have a clear vision for what Evermore can become. My life has been devoted entirely to the animals for the last 10 years— I have never taken my foot off the gas and I certainly won’t now…I have always had big dreams for the pigs and we’re closer than we’ve ever been to making it a reality.

I think about what this property will look like years from now — wooded pig habitats, safe, rolling pasture space, efficient and functional infrastructure, and a refuge dedicated to animals who were never supposed to make it out alive. If you believe in this mission, you can help build it with us. We’ve managed to secure the property through the generosity of a handful of donors which we are forever grateful for, however, we have much more work to do!

We want to invite our supporters to do something truly special — not just donate from afar, but become part of Evermore from the ground level up. When you make a donation of $250 or more, you and a guest can join Tanner and I for a private 30 minute walking tour of Evermore. When you make a $500 donation or more, you and up to three guests can join Tanner and I for a private one hour tour and buggy ride around Evermore. This isn’t a polished, finished sanctuary tour. This is a first look. A chance to walk the property with us, hear the vision firsthand, see what’s already been accomplished, understand what’s next, and experience the beginning stages of something transformational.

You’ll get to stand where future barns will be built, walk the trails our big pigs will soon roam, meet residents, ask questions, and become part of the story as Evermore unfolds, grows, and evolves.

This is an opportunity to come alongside us while this dream is still taking shape. To help us build not just another sanctuary expansion — but a future refuge for the ones who desperately need safe places to land.
